Sami Al Qamzi opens 8th Dubai Drink Technology Expo
“Exhibition features 100 companies from 25 countries”
Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 16th of May, 2016: His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, inaugurated today the 8th edition of the Dubai Drink Technology Expo, which is held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and shall continue for three days. Al Qamzi was accompanied by a number of officials, specialists, and keynote speakers from the beverage technology industry in the UAE and the region.
Al Qamzi toured the exhibition area where he was introduced to the latest cutting-edge technologies in beverage production machinery, process and quality control equipment, storage, transport and services associated with the beverage industry.
Commenting on the significance of the exhibition, Al Qamzi said innovative technology is integral to the sustainable growth of the beverage industry in the Middle East and North Africa, which is already witnessing unprecedented demand from an increasingly diverse and growing population.
“The focus on innovation and smart technologies given across policies and strategies in Dubai and the UAE is a valuable opportunity for every industry sector to grow further and become globally competitive. Recent statistics revealed that the soft drinks market in the Middle East & Africa is expected to cross 81.4 billion litres in 2016, of which, 1.9 billion is in the UAE market. Meanwhile, the bottled water sector in the region is also projected to grow to 50.5 billion litres in 2016, of which, the UAE’s share will be 1.2 billion litres,” – Al Qamzi.

Running parallel to the exhibition, the 5th Global Water & Beverage Technology Congress features a number of educational sessions and B2B business meetings that will discuss the challenges in the water and beverage manufacturing business. The congress will address topics like Managing Brands and Distributorship, Competitive Advantages through Innovative Production Technology, Innovations in Packaging, Caps and Closures Future, Global and Regional Trends in Beverages, and many more.
This year, the exhibition is attended by 100 local and international companies from 25 countries displaying their recent innovations in the beverage industry and its related services. The largest participation in the 8th Dubai Drink Technology Expo is from China and Turkey, both of which have dedicated pavilions. The event is expected to attract over 7,000 visitors and participants.
Dubai Drink Technology Expo is organized by INDEX conferences and Exhibitions Organization Est., a member of INDEX Holding.
